UPE Directives on COPE and SDP Sessions: Addressing Intimidation Concerns

Guidelines for UPE Members

The Union of Professional Educators has received several reports from various educators regarding intimidating emails being sent to educators concerning the compliance with directives related to COPE or SDP sessions.

The UPE issued a directive on the 28th of February 2024 stating that:

Members of the UPE are not to attend COPE or SDP meetings or any other meetings.

Members are specifically being requested by Heads of Schools that if they are not participating in COPE sessions, they should remain in their own class during that time.

Therefore, the Union is issuing the following directive with immediate effect:

Members of the UPE who are not attending COPE or SDP meetings or any other meetings are permitted to remain together in a classroom, staffroom, or any other part of the school premises.

To join the Union of Professional Educators today for support and guidance, visit www.upe.mt. For further assistance, contact us on +356 2122 1252 or 9994 6582.

Members who receive any undue pressure not to adhere with the directives are requested to contact the UPE.
