The UPE Withdraws Directives Issued for PE Teachers

The Union of Professional Educators has discussed the possible manoeuvres which were reportedly being discussed within MEDE in relation to the subject of Physical Education. During this meeting the union was reassured that no direction had been given by DLAP to change current practices, in a transition to the introduction of new syllabi, which could have been detrimental to our educators.

Following a written notification, in which the Ministry gave its word that no such manoeuvre will be put into place, the union will now be withdrawing the directives issued on the 13th of April 2021.

Thus the following directives,

  • Physical Education teachers working in State Schools and who are members of the UPE are not to implement any new LOs which may be presented, but are to adhere to those currently in place and which have been so for the past 2 to 3 years.

and

  • Physical Education teachers who are members of the UPE are to refrain from providing feedback on LOs leading to MQF levels 1, 2, and 3 corresponding to Primary, Middle and Secondary school levels.

are to be considered officially withdrawn and are not to be adhered to by any of our members.

Should any of our members have any further queries on the matter, they should not hesitate to contact the union on 2122 1252/6/8 or via email at info@upe.mt.
