The UPE Issues Directives for Members Who Are Physical Education Teachers

The Union of Professional Educators has been informed of planning in progress being done by the Ministry of Education with regards to the subject of Physical Education in schools at all levels. The implications of the manoeuvres presented, if implemented, are bound to undermine the seniority of educators working in the area as well as negatively impact their deployment within colleges and schools. The union cannot, in any way, condone that such manoeuvres are put into place to the detriment of our educators who, to date, have offered a sterling service across disciplines.

To this end the UPE is thus issuing the following directives to all its members working in the field of Physical Education in State Schools.

  • Physical Education teachers working in State Schools and who are members of the UPE are not to implement any new LOs which may be presented, but are to adhere to those currently in place and which have been so for the past 2 to 3 years.
  • Physical Education teachers who are members of the UPE are to refrain from providing feedback on LOs leading to MQF levels 1, 2, and 3 corresponding to Primary, Middle and Secondary school levels.

Should any of our members in the area require any further information, or have any further queries, they are not to hesitate to contact the union on  2122 1252/6/8 or via email at info@upe.mt.
