The Union of Professional Educators has been, for the past years, assiduously following the unjust discrimination against LSE2s who had been appointed in 2016, and who are working in Church and Private Schools.
The UPE had, yet again, only recently brought up the above-mentioned case with MEDE officials. This time around, the UPE can confirm that it has a written statement, coming directly from the Ministry of Education, confirming that arrears of 2016, 2017, and 2018 for all LSE2s, engaged through a call of application by Independent and Church Schools, are due the arrears they have been fighting for.
This statement brings a two and a half year saga to a close: one which had left many LSEs disappointed by the inefficiency of a Ministry which procrastinated upon taking any action to rectify a situation which was blatantly discriminatory.
The UPE has its members at heart and will leave no stone unturned to see justice prevail, and now, thanks to the perseverance of the UPE, LSEs who fall under the above-mentioned category will be contacted by their respective employers, in due time, to settle arrears.
Should any of our members have any further queries on the issue, they are not to hesitate to contact the union on 21221252/6/8, or via email at info@upe.mt.
