The Union of Professional Educators (UPE) has informed the authorities of State and Church schools that many teachers have been reporting a significant rise in temperatures in classrooms and workspaces for educators.
We have strongly advised the authorities to ensure that classrooms and workspaces for all educators are adequately ventilated, insulated and provided with working cooling devices.
The Union is disappointed to note that the majority of schools in Malta and Gozo do not have air conditioning, consequently leaving educators amongst the very few public servants professions without suitable working conditions.
In the upcoming days, the Union will closely monitor the situation and, if necessary, issue directives concerning the issue to ensure that its members’ concerns are heard.
