Addressing Concerns and Protecting the Professionality of Nurture Teams
In recent times, the Union of Professional Educators (UPE) has received numerous complaints from Nurture Teams regarding the frequent visits by Heads of Department (HODs). This issue has caused a significant impact on the morale and trust within the Nurture Teams, prompting the UPE to address the matter and register a trade dispute.
It has been observed that the regular visits made by HODs to Nurture Teams have resulted in a sense of frustration and apprehension among the teachers. This is primarily due to the perception that these visits are unjustified and reflect a lack of trust in the classroom proceedings and activities. Additionally, there is a growing concern regarding the apparent lack of proper pedagogical training exhibited by the HODs, further contributing to the erosion of confidence among Nurture teachers.
Considering the gravity of the situation, the UPE has decided to register a trade dispute.
To ensure the protection of the rights and interests of Nurture Teachers and Nurture Learning Support Educators (LSEs), the UPE has issued the following directives, which will come into effect on Monday, 13th November 2023:
1. Nurture Teachers and Nurture LSE’s members of the UPE, are not to accept any visits from HODs inclusion.
2. Nurture Teachers and Nurture LSE’s members of the UPE, are not to accept any instructions or submit any work to HODs inclusion.
Despite the strong stance taken by the UPE, the union remains optimistic about finding a mutually acceptable resolution to this matter. The UPE encourages open dialogue between all parties involved, with the goal of addressing the concerns raised by the Nurture Teams while ensuring the smooth functioning of the educational institution.
