The Union of Professional Educators earlier today attended the court sitting presided by the Hon. Justice Toni Abela.

Early into the hearing the MUT pointed out that Hon. Justice Abela’s spouse is an active member of their union. It therefore asked Hon. Justice Abela to recuse himself. The courts will now schedule another sitting that respects the time-frame prescribed by law. 

The UPE will brief its members when the details of the next sitting become known. In the meantime the warrant of prohibitory injunction stands for both unions.
