The UPE has just registered a trade dispute with the Ministry of Education after persistent complaints have been filed that principals and heads of school are being purposely misguided by the Ministry to tell members of staff to request individual directives from the UPE. It has been made clear from the beginning that directives are to be followed only by ‘members of the UPE’.

The actions being taken by the Ministry to prevent members from following union directives is illegal and constitutes to harassment to freedom of assembly and association with the UPE.
