Clarification on directives issued on the 28th of February 2024.

Guidelines on directives issued on the 28th of February 2024.

When referring to the following directive:

“LSE members of the UPE are directed not to replace sick LSEs or LSE’s on Special Leave as well as those on maternity leave or any other form of leave. (With the exception of LSE’s who have been deployed in year 11 and whose students would have left school).”

LSE’s are directed to remain in their classroom assisting the teacher or KGE in class, as well as helping all the other students in their class.

When referring to the following directive:

“KGE’s members of the UPE are directed not to replace sick KGE’s or KGE’s on Special Leave. (This directive is not applicable to KGE relievers.)”

KGE’s who are sick or on Special leave are to be replaced by KGE Relievers.

When referring to the following directive:

“Teachers and KGEs members of the UPE are not to do replacement lessons during curriculum time. (This directive is not applicable to KGE/Teacher relievers.)”

Curriculum time is reserved for planning and not for replacements.

When referring to the following directive:

“Members of the UPE are not to use any online platforms, such as MS Teams.”

This directive is aimed at ceasing all communication within the school or outside of school by not utilizing online platforms.

When referring to the following directive:

“Teachers and KGEs members of the UPE are to refrain from carrying out lessons if students are sent to school sick.”

Students sent to school visibly sick are to be sent home immediately. If they return to school with a medical certificate stating that they are “fit for school,” educators are advised to contact the union for further guidance.

When referring to the following directive:

“Members of the UPE are not to attend COPE or SDP meetings or any other meetings.”

Educators are instructed to remain on school premises (where COPE or SDP’s are held) and are not to participate.

Members who receive any undue pressure not to adhere with the directives are requested to contact the UPE.
