The Union of Professional Educators (UPE) would like to remind all hardworking educators that they have already missed out on a substantial amount of outstanding payments, which has hindered their financial progress.

Following significant delays since the expiration of several agreements in December 2022, educators are eagerly awaiting retroactive payments from both the government and the MUT for the duration of the expired agreements. Failing to provide these arrears to educators who have been on the state payroll since the agreements lapsed would result in a grave injustice.

This would imply that the prolonged negotiations, have concluded in favor of the government, but have disadvantaged many educators, including retirees who retired between the lapse of the agreements and the finalization of the new one.

Educators have come to the realization that there is a need for a shift in industrial representation to ensure a sustainable and promising future for all educators.
